Lesson Procedure
A 1-hour golf lesson includes a focused session with instructor Wayne. Aimed at improving specific areas of your game. Here’s what you can expect:
-
Warm-Up and Assessment: Let’s start with a brief warm-up to get you comfortable, followed by an assessment of your current skill level, swing mechanics, grip, stance, and posture.
-
Focus on Key Areas: Based on the assessment, we will then focus on a specific part of your game, such as:
- Driving: Improve your stance, swing, and follow-through for distance and accuracy.
- Short Game: Practice chipping, pitching, and bunker shots.
- Putting: Work on alignment, speed, and reading the greens.
- Swing Mechanics: Correct any flaws in your swing, such as your grip, backswing, or tempo.
-
Use of Technology: Video analysis or other tools to provide visual feedback and track your progress.
-
Drills and Practice: You’ll work on specific drills designed to reinforce the key points of the lesson, customised to target your weaknesses.
-
Feedback and Next Steps: At the end of the session, I will give you feedback on your progress, suggest areas for improvement, and recommend drills to practice on your own.
Is there a specific area of your golf game you’d like to focus on for your lesson?
Structure of a 9-Hole Playing Lesson:
-
Pre-Round Warm-Up:
- The lesson may begin with a short warm-up session where you can practice your swing, putting, or chipping.
-
Course Management:
- Throughout the round, I will teach you how to manage the course better. This includes:
- Club selection: Choosing the right club for each shot based on distance, wind, and lie.
- Shot strategy: Deciding where to aim and how to play each hole depending on hazards, slopes, and the pin position.
- Risk vs. Reward: Learning when to play conservatively and when to take risks.
- Throughout the round, I will teach you how to manage the course better. This includes:
-
Real-Time Feedback:
- As you play each hole, I will provide live feedback on your swing mechanics, stance, alignment, and mental approach.
- They might give suggestions on:
- Driving off the tee: Improving distance and accuracy.
- Iron play: Working on ball striking and approach shots.
- Short game: Tips on chipping, pitching, and bunker play around the greens.
- Putting: Reading greens, controlling distance, and improving your putting stroke.
-
Mental Game:
- Wayne may help you develop a stronger mental approach to the game, teaching you how to stay focused, relaxed, and confident, even after poor shots.
-
Post-Round Review:
- After the 9 holes, we will have a brief review of the round, discussing what went well and areas that need improvement.
- I may give you practice drills or strategies to focus on before your next round.
Key Benefits:
- Practical Experience: Unlike a driving range lesson, a playing lesson helps you learn in real-game situations.
- Tailored Advice: You get personalized feedback that addresses your performance under real course conditions.
- Improved Decision Making: You'll learn strategies for better shot selection and overall course management.
Is there a specific part of your game you’d want to focus on during a 9-hole playing lesson, like driving, short game, or mental approach?
